The Toyota GR Supra - Now Available in Easton!

The newest version of the Toyota Supra is the GR Supra. While details are still quite thin, Milford and Easton drivers can look forward to a Supra that pays homage to its earlier Supra iterations through exterior styling and continued performance focus. The new 2020 Toyota GR Supra will be available in three trim options: Launch Edition, 3.0 Premium, and 3.0.

Toyota Supra History

Celica Supra A40

Appearing under the guise of another model, the Celica, the very first version of the Supra appeared in 1978. The Celica Supra A40 boasted sporty exterior styling and a handful of styling choices that can still be seen in the all-new GR Supra. Exterior style aspects that can still be seen in the new Toyota GR Supra include a sloping rear roof and triangular rear side windows. Beyond this, the Celica Supra A40 shares rear-wheel drive and an inline six up front.

  • Celica Supra A40: 2.8-liter 5M-E engine: 116 horsepower/ 145 foot-pounds of torque; 0-60 in 10.2 seconds

Celica Supra A60

Arriving in 1982, the Celica Supra A60 made a host of important changes that would lead to an eventual split of the Supra from the Celica model. Possibly the most influential change that came to the Celica Supra A60 was a performance specific trim - the "P-Type". The "P-Type" added in sporty exterior styling that included flared fiberglass fenders, flip-up headlights, and a modernized body style. The Celica Supra A60 was also offered in an "L-Type", which was a luxury-minded model.

  • Celica Supra A60: 2.8-liter 5M-E engine: 161 horsepower/ 169 foot-pounds of torque; 0-60 in 8.4 seconds

A70 Supra

The A70 Supra was the first iteration of the Supra to be a standalone model. The A70 Supra offered Salisbury and Milford, DE drivers a deftly styled vehicle that not only looked like a performance vehicle but acted like one. Appearing in 1986, the A70 Supra featured a turbocharged engine, electronically adjustable dampers, and a power-enhancing variable air induction system. The A70 Supra made major changes to the exterior of the vehicle over the A60, with the introduction of long, lithe vehicle body, a rear spoiler, and generally more futuristic styling. The A70 Supra maintained rear triangular side windows along with angular styling.

  • A70 Supra: 3.0-liter 7M-GTE engine: 232 horsepower/ 254 foot-pounds of torque; 0-60 in 6.4 seconds

A80 Supra

The most recent Supra (until the 2020 GR Supra), the 1993 A80 supra brought major changes to the A70 version of the vehicle. The A80 Supra was the model to place the Supra firmly within the raw performance vehicle realm. Boasting a near-perfect weight balance, a 3.0-liter engine, and striking exterior styling; the A80 Supra cemented the Supra as a distinct vehicle. Replacing sharp angular lines of design with smooth, gently rounded angles, the A80 remained reminiscent of the A40, A60, and A70 while also being its own vehicle. The A80 also added a lifted rear spoiler that added to the sporty exterior style.

  • A80 Supra: 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE: 320 horsepower/ 315 foot-pounds of torque; 0-60 in 4.6 seconds
